How to Speak about Death (FCC) Week 2

This series of courses related to grief and death are being offered through Frederick Community College’s Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR). ILR courses are designed with seniors in mind, but all are welcome!

On Sept. 16, we will discuss the process of speaking about death through the life-span. This will include how to engage age-appropriate conversations about death and dying with children, teens, and adults. We will also discuss the specific challenges and different considerations based on family roles and other relationships. We will also take some specific time this week to discuss pet loss.

This course is a series of individual education sessions around grief, loss, and death planning. Students may choose to attend all sessions, or to attend just the weeks covering topics of particular interest. Individual sessions will vary each term and could include the following topics: how to speak about death, death planning, understanding grief, managing political grief, grief of memory loss and dementia.
