Counseling Services
Kendra is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in Maryland (license no. LGP16873).
I offer individual, couples, families, and group sessions.
I have experience helping individuals through a variety of transitions and difficulties, most commonly:
Trauma, grief and loss
Living losses (e.g. political grief, caretaking, divorce, job loss)
Intergenerational and complex trauma
Relational difficulties
Sexual wellness, sexual trauma, and sexual compulsivity
My work is psychodynamic. I pull from attachment theory, existential and narrative therapies, somatic therapy, neuroscience, and parts work.

Step 1: Consultation call. This is a free 15-minute call where we discuss a little bit of logistics and make sure that it’s a good fit. If you know what you need, we use the time for scheduling. If you have questions for me before you want to book an appointment, we discuss those.
Step 2: Do the work. We figure out what you want to work on and make a plan together about how to do that. Sometimes the plan involves something very specific like learning and developing skills to manage panic. Other times the plan is just to talk and sort through what feels like a big mess in your brain or on your heart.
Step 3: Transition. Sometimes the goals change, but we keep working. But sometimes when the goals are completed, our work together ends. As a person who works a lot with grief, I try to make this part equally meaningful.

In therapy, there is an identified client. All our work together, our goals and confidentiality are built around working with that client. My work is to support the healthful function and growth of the identified client.
In individual therapy, the identified client is one person.
In couple’s therapy, the identified client is a romantic unit. I meet with, develop goals with, and maintain confidentiality with that unit.
In family therapy, the identified client is the entire family, however that is defined for them.
There can be guests in therapy. A great deal of my work is in death and grief. These are difficult conversations and I am happy to support by being present. An individual or couple or family may decide that they would like to have a guest at a session (or several). It is the client’s time. In these cases, though, the identified client does not change. Goals and confidentiality are maintained between me and the identified client.
